Two of Didsbury’s junior stars were in great form this week as they made their mark in top competitions.
Former Junior Captain Oliver Pierce made his debut for Cheshire’s mixed age team as they took on their old rivals Lancashire Boys at Bury GC. In the morning foursomes Oliver partnered Ben Lee (Ringway) to victory as Lancashire led 4-2. The afternoon singles were close and the final deciding match went to the 18th before Lancashire secured a thrilling 10-8 win. Oliver again put on a good display, only losing his match by one hole.
Next day at Ringway Golf Club in their prestigious Junior Open that attracted top players from across the region, Cole Self did himself proud by picking up two prizes. He was runner-up in the best nett for the Fred Heap Memorial Trophy, and won the best u14 years nett with his return of 70.
