The Didsbury Golf Club Captain’s presentation of major trophies to the winners of the 2017 competitions saw Jack Brooks dominate the night. The Cheshire player had shown his class throughout the season by winning the Houldsworth medal, the Committee Vase, the Young Cup and the Scratch Knock Out after a great final with Ian Self.
Ewan McCray proved himself to be a desirable partner with two pair’s victories partnering Neil Foster and Ian Bailey. Also receiving trophies on the night were Geoff Massey, Kieran Kenny, Carl Moore, Richard Newlove, Oliver Bristowe, Ian Self, Dan Palk, Dave Moran, Craig Estherby and Saj Baloch.
Didsbury’s City Glass Foursomes team can be very proud of reaching the last four in a competition with over 80 entries. They lost narrowly to Houldsworth, who had a comfortable 6-1 win over Birchwood in the final at Blackley.
There is still chance for mixed pairs to enter the Manchester Alliance Hancock Trophy at Sale this coming Wednesday and mingle with some of the region’s top players. Check out the Alliance website on www.mdga,org,uk for entry details.
