Great day to celebrate Dave Henshall at Didsbury
Dave Henshall was a popular member of Didsbury Golf Club for best part of 40 years and his recent death was a great loss to the club and his many friends there.
Ivor Tomlinson, who won several club pairs competitions with Dave over the years, and some of his close friends set up a tribute golf day to remember Dave.
There was a good turn out on the day for the Four Man Team Stableford competitions with plenty of former Didsbury GC members coming back to honour Dave both on and off the course.
Ivor said: “Our thanks go to the Didsbury staff, Martin Murray and Steve Woodall for their excellent organisation.
“Dave’s daughter Sam, Martin and I donated the prizes and Steff and Caroline also did a great job including a ‘mid round cold one’ – a touch Dave would have really appreciated.
“A moving moment was when Sam spread Dave’s ashes at the rear of the first tee.
“The winning team with 90 points were Mike Serrage, Mike Wardrop, Steve Wilkinson and Keith Thompson by a point from Dave Bowers team and a certain bandit Rob Caruana won two nearest the pin prizes and just missed out on another won by Danny Goosen.”
