The annual Didsbury Seniors Open attracted 134 players from around the Region who enjoyed the weather, the course and the friendly welcome by all at the club.
One of the unusual features was a party of players from Walmersley Golf Club (Bury) who made it their Captain’s Day Out and they were delighted with the day.
Their Captain Steve Fox explained: “It was my Captain's Day out at Didsbury with 26 Walmersley members in attendance.
“The course was recommended to me by a Walmersley member and all in attendance agreed that the course was excellent, the meal was superb and the hospitality within the clubhouse exceeded expectations.
“Our best scores on the day were by David Longfield and Barry Salmon with 43pts, Stuart Graham and John Kilburn with 42pts and Alan Brown and Mike Marriot with 40pts.
“There was an exceptional score on one of the par three's with Dave Grundy scoring a two for five points.”
The winners on the day were Didsbury star Hector Hardie and his partner Adrian Shaw with 46 points ahead of Anthony Sparkes and Peter Mitchell who won a cpo on 44 from John Weston and Mike Hinde with David Longfield and Barry Salmon winning a cpo from several pairs on 43.
The efficient team of Didsbury seniors (Alan Genter, Len Cunningham, Frank Latham and Richard Venes) ensured that the day went well from start to finish and received well deserved praise from Captain Mike Black.
