DIDSBURY Golf Club were great and generous hosts for a charity 72 holes in a day challenge providing a superb course and great hospitality for the eight teams who took part.
They all got into the swing of it with some great team names Didsbury Dirty Birdies, Natural Hazzards, Sandy Bankers, Don’t Tell the Girls, Sure to Shank Redemption, The Bogey Men, Pars R Us and Rough Round The Wedges.
The day started at 04.30 and finished at sunset.
The weather was cloudy and drizzly for the first two rounds but by the afternoon it was dry with perfect golf weather.
Club members, family and friends caddied for the teams, cheered and shouted motivational support throughout the day.
A feet-up rather than a knees up saw the end of the marathon with a celebratory meal and ample liquid refreshments.
A number of charities have benefitted from their efforts including: Teenage Cancer Trust. (Lady Captains Charity), Macmillan, Dementia, Brain Tumour Research and Mind.
The current amount of over £11,000 has been raised in total for these very worthy causes.
Organiser Adele McNeillie, (pictured in action) said: “ We give a big thank you to everyone who donated. It was worth the aching muscles and joints the next day.
“Also thanks to Didsbury Golf Club for providing refreshments throughout the day making sure we refuelled between each round.”
