Jenny ends her long wait
Jenny White has been a long-time member of Didsbury Golf Club and a regular player in competitions and teams and has played golf for over 38 years.
But eluding her for all of that time is a hole-in-one.
Now she is able to celebrate hard and long after notching her first ace playing for the Didsbury Ladies team in the prestigious Mersey Ladies Shield at Chorlton Golf Club.
It came on the tricky 113-yard par three 17th hole and Jenny hit a low rescue club under a tree and lost sight of the finish of the ball which was heading for the green.
On reaching the green there was one ball in view and playing partner Julie Matthews (Sale) identified it as hers.
Jenny thought her ball had gone through the green but on passing the hole she was delighted to find her ball there.
Jenny said: “It was a great moment and I was congratulated by my playing partners one of whom was Caroline Croxton (Sale) who I knew from working with me at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.
“Now I am ready to go and get may second ace!”
