Lady Captain’s Day is one of the highlights of the year for the Lady Captain and Didsbury’s Lady Captain Margaret Lloyd, in her second term in the role, had an enjoyable and rewarding day.
Margaret said: “My Lady Captain’s Day at Didsbury was an enjoyable day coupled with some excellent golf scores.
“The weather was kind and the work of the groundstaff, Steffan our Professional and all the catering staff ensured the day went without a hitch.
“Yohanan, one of our Juniors manned the refreshments at the half -way house and ensured the ladies enjoyed some cake and a drink.
“As well as playing a round there was a putting and chipping competition and during the round there was a nearest the pin after two shots on the 5th a nearest the line on the 14th and nearest the pin on 18th.
“Another Junior, Ewana, played her first full 18 hole competition and came in with a net 68 and she received a special prize.
“The star of the day was Jane Ridley who scored a superb net 64. She played fantastically and the ladies were delighted for her as she has struggled with her health this year.
“A three course delicious meal was enjoyed in the evening and prizes presented.
“I also asked for donations to my chosen charity – Cystic Fibrosis Trust – instead of receiving individual gifts from the ladies.
“A magnificent total of £506 was raised by so doing and lifted the amount raised this year to over £!,000.
“The camaraderie, laughter and goodwill which are hallmarks of the Ladies Section at Didsbury were all at full strength and a memorable day was enjoyed by all.”
